Biography for Jerry
L. VanGombos

IHM
President and Chief Operations Officer Jerry L.
VanGombos has a wide variety of experience in the
facility services and warehousing business segments.
His background in chemistry, biology, physics,
mentoring and teaching compliment his vast abilities in
working in both large and small environments and
facilities such as hospitals, school systems, and
warehouses.
With over 25 years of consulting expertise in
industry, he has demonstrated a strong history of
integrity which has enabled him to confidently function
in numerous facility settings.
These include large manufacturing and industrial
complexes (with six sigma, SPC parameters), to
sophisticated military facilities and power plants (with
safety and security issues) and enables him to
successfully function in a variety of facility settings. |
This
experience is coupled with attributes of “mentor” to those
in his employ. He
has utilized this teacher/coaching ability to observe and assess
a variety of work environments and develop training and teaching
programs for a wide range of personnel from executive managers
to hourly minimum wage employees.
After
several years of teaching and coaching, Mr. VanGombos joined
ServiceMaster as a manager in their hospital division.
Soon afterwards, he was promoted to the corporate office.
There he developed corporate and field training programs,
and developed what became know as the ServiceMaster’s
“Continuous Leadership Education and Development Program.”
He also co-authored their in-house equivalent to an MBA taught by
professionals from Northwestern and the University of Chicago.
Within ServiceMaster Mr. VanGombos was promoted into
field industrial engineering and while there developed
ServiceMaster programs for over 200 hospitals and medical
complexes nationwide. As
a sales and operational field manager, Mr. VanGombos’s
territory included Illinois, Michigan and Indiana with
accounts in revenue well over $20,000,000.
Always building as he went, he greatly impacted every new
position with systems, procedures and a blueprint that could be
easily followed.
His expertise in marketing won
him the attention of Stewart-Carey, a wholesale contract glazing
and retail chain in Indianapolis as their Marketing Manager.
Proficient in his endeavors he soon was promoted to Vice
President of Operations. Under
his direction Stewart-Carey successfully added revenue, reduced
warehouse costs by increasing turns and successfully negotiated
five union contracts with glazers and teamsters.
Over
the past 23 years Mr. VanGombos has been involved with the
development of IHM Facility Services as part owner and
President. This
company has served the facility needs of many of the Fortune 500
companies with consulting, chemical and equipment evaluations,
staffing and productivity studies, quality control initiatives,
needs assessments and strategic facility planning.
The growth of this business has now been in the area of
providing contract facility services.
Having
IHM management processes be recognized by ISO 9001:2000
certification in 2003 qualifies IHM to begin new customer
initiatives and opens a variety of new market opportunities.
